Meet the Chalet Eterlou

John & Eliza Allen moved to Tignes 30 years ago and have returned every winter since from Ord House Hotel, which they also own in Scotland. Ord House Hotel is an old Laird’s house dated back to the 17th century (much like Eterlou) it sits in extensive grounds and gardens. Eliza is still the chef and has kept her Rosette award for over 11 years. If you ever find yourself in Scotland in the Summer do stop by and say ‘Hello’ and explore another wonderfully charming and unique building.

Chalet Eterlou was just an old stone barn when it was bought in the eighties by John & Eliza and they converted it in just one summer for customers. The Chalet was the first all en-suite in the resort and has been sympathetically maintained to retain character and it’s original old village hay barn charm.

John and Eliza are still around and about in Tignes during the winter and have a wealth of knowledge on the local area including the best pistes, fastest lifts and the best watering holes. All of this great knowledge has been filtered down to everyone, so you will get only but the best advice about the local area from us.

John & Eliza are both competition winning skiers and so it is at no surprise that their boys, Alexander and William have followed in their footsteps. Whilst William visits the Chalet a few times a year, he is focusing on his studies at the University of Aberdeen.

Alexander has been a permanent resident of Tignes his whole life. After winning many titles whilst being on the French Ski Team he has now retired and has taken on the running of the chalet year round.

Alex took on the running of Chalet Eterlou in the season of 2013/14 and last summer with a little help from his friends renovated and redecorated the Chalet. He has even opened the chalet doors in the Summer, so come on down for some hiking and take advantage of the FREE Tignes’ activity cards with a stay of two nights or more.
