The Tignes Glacier opens on the 3rd October and the resort will slowly open more lifts depending on snowfall. The majority of the lifts are set to be open for the 28th November. Which is when this year things are getting kicked off with the Winter Corporate Games, which see over 500 participants show off their sporting values of team spirit (28-29 Nov). Tignes Les Brevieres’ lifts will be open on the 12th December at the latest.
Due to our high altitude and snowsure resort, Tignes will be the first stop for the Ultimate Test Tour (05-06 Dec), which is the exhibition for artisans of skiing and safety equipment that brings together all the freeride world.
Val d’Isere will play host to the Criterium de la Premiere Neige again with World Cup Downhill & Giant Slalom Races (11-13 Dec Men / 17-19 Dec Women). They are celebrating 60 years of this event this year so it is sure to be a big one. Catch it on Eurosport if you aren’t in town!
Christmas events aren’t published until that week but in previous years there has been torchlight descents, street parades and markets with free vin chaud, a carol concert outside the Maison de Tignes and a rather theatrical visit from Father Christmas. Christmas Mass is held in the church opposite our chalet. (24 Dec)
Everyone’s favourite high altitude music concert is back for this New Year. Situated outside the Maison de Tignes hundreds of people come out of the bars and restaurants to count in the new year together. When the hand strikes midnight be sure to be in awe of a pretty intense firework display. DJs are yet to be announced by host radio station RTL2.
